PAST, PRESENT, FUTURE DIGITAL MURAL (2021-22)

Past, Present, Future is a digitally printed mural created as part of my collaborative work with teens at The Community Art Center. For this project, I built curriculum around local history, for which I devised a classroom lesson and walking tour. Teens also had access to decades of archival photographs from CAC. Each teen was instructed to create a digital illustration that either describes local history or tells their own story as being part of that history. They could use the archives, photos they took around the neighborhood, or any of the local stories they had learned as reference material. I then collected their illustrations and combined and arranged them into one larger image. The teens then gave feedback on my arrangements until we arrived at a final image that would become the mural. The mural was commissioned by Boston Properties, Inc. It was one in a series of nine public art installments that were part of an elevated park renovation in Kendall Square. It is located at 88 Ames St. in Cambridge, MA.

Each teen created a digital rendering that expressed their own feelings about The Port neighborhood of Cambridge.
