Bike Lockers Digital Mural (2024)
This project was created as part of my collaborative work with teens at The Community Art Center, and in partnership with Just A Start for their Linwood Court apartment community. It began with teens hosting an event for neighbors where they could participate in creative activities and contribute ideas for the mural. After several ideas were put forth and reviewed, the teens decided to create characters and comic strips based on themes of family, friendship, mental health, community, love, nature, and bicycle safety. I would then arrange all of their artwork into cohesive design for the mural.
To create the background for the design, teens dipped remote control cars in paint and drove them around on a large surface of paper to create tire tracks. The tracks were then digitally manipulated to create the pattern for the background. The idea was to create an overall pattern that would fit with the bicycle theme. The final design for the mural was professionally printed on adhesive vinyl and installed by the printing company.
