In this series of paintings, I've severed man-made objects from their normal environment and placed them in more abstract or minimal compositions, so that they can be viewed more closely and studied from a new and different perspective. I've chosen these subjects while they were in a state of decay, before being cleaned or repaired, for this is when I find them most appealing. I believe the stages of deterioration and repair that mark the cycle of man-made objects to be evidence of the implicit communication between mankind and nature or the unknown.
